Very sad day when you lose your best friend. My boy is 11.5yr old lab and not getting any younger. Took off after a deer in January, gone for 7hrs. Family was crying as we all figured we wouldn't see him again.

It is a hard thing and one I'm not looking forward too.

It good to get this off your chest, I'm sure it helps talking about him.

Sorry for your loss man... I choked up just reading the topic and like a sucker I had to click on it...here I am a bit misty eyed at work for ya bro... I think I may be worse than John derringer when it comes to the end of a dog story... I can't even imagine how I will deal with it when the time comes to say goodbye to my bluetick... Even the wife's dog will probably bother me to see go(jk he's very much a part of the family as well we just don't always see eye to eye except when the big dummy jumps up on me) either way sorry for your loss again and thanks for posting. I may have to go home and watch "where the red fern grows" tonight

Sorry to hear. I feel your pain. Lost 2 dogs and a cat in the past 3 years. They are a part of us. After the right amount of time we have gotten our new lab Buck and a few other small pets. But I catch a glimpse of our other pets in their urns up on the shelf or look at their pictures and remember them fondly. Time will heal your wounds.

An Ode to Moochie

When a much loved pet dies, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge. It runs and plays with special friends in the rolling meadows and hills. These animals are restored to heath and vigor just as we remember them. They are happy and content, but still miss the special peolple they left behind. There comes a day when a frolicking boy suddenly stops and looks into the distance with bright eyes and eager body, he spots you and begins to run from his new friends. Reunited, you embrace in a happy shower of tears and kisses. You look into the eyes of your beloved boy and realize that your love for each other will always live on.

Finally, together you cross the Rainbow Bridge.

R.I.P. Moochie

Based on a Norse Legend

Sorry about your loss. Our family are dog people too and it kills me every time I lose one. They become a special part of our lives.

Take care my friend.

Sorry to learn of your buddies passing, I know what your dealing with and it really sucks. The rainbow bridge is real or at least I believe it exists because I have 2 Yellow Lab partners waiting there for me.

Sorry about your loss. Our buddy passed on the kitchen floor a year ago. I forget some times & call the new dog by the old dogs name.

Ahh Lad not much I can say but I do understand your pain losing a piece of your soul . I hope this song by Shy-Anne Hovorka helps you shed your teers and cleanse the heavy weight of your soul letting go as it did help me .I play it often

RayRay89 I feel your loss as I have had to put down 2 furry friends so far..
My wife and I have 3 dogs right now ..Force is 1Ĺ, Skor is 6 and our old guy Cruise just turned 15..
Our old guy Cruise had health problems at 4 years of age and Guelph animal hospital told us he would be lucky to make it to 10 years of age. Well he has beat the odds and besides being deaf now, well until we open the cookie jar lol he still going pretty good for 15..
For our 2 dogs that have passed, Kemo and Solo we just think about all the times they made us laugh and it really helped get through it... Honestly sometimes the passing of a pet is harder then the passing of a human.. They give you unconditional love always no matter what the situation..
All we can do is love them back as much as they loved us and give them a great life well they are here..
If a new dog is in the future he/she will give you that same love and new memories to cherish....
Again sorry for your loss and I hope your memories of the pup make it easier to deal with...
Dave..

Your post reminded me of a dog I had for ten years. That dog was with me everyday at work or at play. I hunted grouse, pheasant and woodcock 60 days a season . I lived alone for most of the dogs life and it was like family to me.

The day I found her dead in her kennel was my darkest day and remembering that time stopped me from owning a dog for a very long time. The only reason I got another dog was my kids kept asking for one and every kid should grow up with a dog.

Iím sorry for your loss.... it will get easier but you will never forget.
