Slow start to day, got out around noon, setup by 12:30... luckily I was able to follow sled trails out on the lake made walking easy. Not a single person out that wasnít a local in a permanent hut, nice to see, very quiet out there.

Marked a very large fish right away, but it ran away from my spoon. Fished for at about 30 minutes and got a small laker 16Ē topside on the Williams and released it. Right after that I hooked I whitefish and it came tail first up the hole and popped off I didnít even try to grab it. Then silence until 2:30, a hole bunch of commotion stirred up on bottom then wham bam! My meegs was slammed. It let go I missed it, two seconds later whabam fish on! Nice 2.5lber. Still saw commotion on the bottom so I fired the meegs back down the hole... whabam! Fish on, this one had guts and Iím using perch rod with 6lb line. Fight the fish up to the hole, it sees me, peels right back to bottom and then some. Inch by inch I slowly lift it again about 3/4 way up, and it peels back to bottom and struggle to lift it... slowly I get it back to the surface and finally pop itís head through the hole, what a fight a beautiful 6lber. Called it quits and started the walk back to the car, what a day.

I like your rod holder setup I'm taking it that's your bait bucket tucked conveniently inside?

Yeah helps keep sled clean, in case I donít put the lid on tight and my minnows slosh around. Sometimes those back Lake trails are unforgiving. Also, I just toss all my garbage in there and make sure I leave the place cleaner than when I got there. The rod holder is a down Easter I use in my canoe in open water for trolling.
