Got to the launch at 7:00 and met "Fisherman"-Eric as he was coming in. We introduced ourselves and chatted for a few minutes and he helped me launch-thanks Eric.
Ran out and dropped a line in 80fow with the ball down 55ft. Thought to myself, its early for salmon to be so far down in the Bay, so I will run North and keep heading deeper all the time.
Kept changing around with various spoons and my favourite green/white ladderback Lyman. Ran out as far as 194fow and did not mark very much at all. Ran back in to 100fow and started to mark some bait and a few fish. Most of the fish were 20 to 40 ft above bottom.
Ran South for about 3miles going in and out in 90-110fow, marking lots of bait and as the day wore on, more and more fish. I had one hit, which I think was on the slider I was running. That was it. Pulled the line at 1:45.
When I got in, there was note on the windshield from "Wilbur007"-Myles on the back of a $0.05 CTC bill, saying he looked forward to my report. I had passed him out there earlier in the morning and he said he had 1 fish.
That's my report.
I don't usually fish Collingwood this early in the year, but rather go to Simcoe or Bluffers on Lake Ontario. The last couple of years, I haven't done very well trolling on Simcoe and if you get something it is usually so big you don't want to keep it and smoke it.
My preference this time of year is Bluffers, as I have had good luck down there over the years. This year, there is no way I'm driving all the way to "Covidville", when it is a whole lot safer up here.

When speaking with Ralph I mentioned the other fellow I know, 2 lakers he let go, one 10lb salmon in the box and lost another beside the boat. So they are out there.
