Hey all,

I'm looking for a nav chip to add to my Garmin to help for fishing in Ontario. Primarily on the trent severn Kawartha Lakes.

Any advice on which chip/card to choose? Navionics, Lakemaster??

Cheers,

Lakemaster coverage for Ontario sucks. Navionics without question.

Well, i bought the canada inland lakes lakevu g3 with navionics from Garmin and installed it into my Garmin fish finder/chart plotter.

so far i've only tried it on Buckhorn lake and i'm a bit disappointed. Many of the bottom features are missing and some of the shoals are off by about 30 meters. I use my 2nd fish finder by the steering wheel and it's shows me lots of humps bumps drops etc that are not on the map.

I haven't tried the whole lake yet but so far not so good. I'd say at best about 60 percent accurate.

I have the navionics chip that even includes Alaska since I am hoping to use it out west as well as in Ontario. It is quite detailed. It does miss a few rocks up in Georgian Bay Islands, but I seem to find them anyway. Granted, it is 13 years out of date. I remember paying a little north of $200 for it and it has turned out to be worth every penny.

I have both and prefer navionics.
