Last night after supper I took the kid out to a close to home lake for some bass before it got dark. It was a fantastic couple hours.
We fished two spots, both were long tapering points off the end of a couple islands, and they were absolutely loaded up with bass. For the first hour and a half we literally caught fish on pretty much every cast, with a drop shot or a weighted wacky worm. Once it calmed right sown just before dark we switched over to poppers and it was the same, fish on pretty much every cast. Nothing over 4lbs, but it was about the fastest I’ve ever unhooked a fish, re rigged, and set the hook, then repeat

The smallmouth have been on fire this summer everywhere we’ve gone, if anyone’s thinking about getting out, don’t let the heat stop you cause they’re eating big time right now.

Outstanding. I can't wait to get up north in mid-September for some smallies. I'm heading to Whalesback channel and eastern Nippising.
