I think i know where Simcoesod might be going with that. I'm guessing we gotta consider the other eating habits of other bottom feeding species maybe?

Also if were talking lures I've had excellent luck jigging a buckshot spoon tipped with a minnow head. go to color is usually gold/reds for whites and UV perch colors.

I haven't had too much luck with the meegs this season. They swim in pretty aggressively then lose interest

a small marmuska jig tipped with a bigger minnow 2-3 inches off bottom with a slip bobber in the hole worked very well for me last year
