some great feedback! thank you to all, pontoon boats sure have come a long way from the days of big barges with tiny motors ploughing through the water. i'm very much looking forward to having friends and family out on it, it has already offered up some fun times early in the year.

fishmagnet, perhaps I could install a pole in the middle of the boat for some added "ballerina" effect while grilling!

Not a bad idea...just keep the size of the lady to a minimum or you could turn over your pontoon and get their pontoons wet too....lmao.

Fishing out of a large difficult to manoeuvre wind catcher is difficult but like you say fishing with a bunch of buds out of a pontoon boat is a blast . I recall in my much younger days my buddy had this “pontoon” boat which was nothing more than steel tubes plywood and a railing that was kept at a remote lake. One cold May weekend we placed a Steel tub in the middle and brought along a campfire. Good times for sure till the tub bottom heated up.

I wouldn’t use ice fishing rods as someone pointed out longer rods have distinct advantages on a moving platform .

Happy Father’s Day.

Speaking of new rods......

that whole post is priceless woodenstiks!! I did a similar thing on an old wooden dock/barge thing we used to go out on many moons ago, my buddy was like "are you insane? a campfire on top of the only thing keeping us afloat?"
