Just a quick check to see if anyone else has any words of wisdom (not honey holes!) before I head up to the lake. I called the owner of the lodge and she said that people have been renting the cottages and were on the lake fishing last Monday. There have been conservation officers patrolling the lake recently and have not stopped anyone other than to check licenses and safety equipment.
I'm getting so pumped!!!

Not sure where your renting but where I went the owner gave me some frozen smelt he bought at the store (full body, head still on) that I used as bait for the Lakers. I went right when the ice melted off the lake so they were still very shallow. I just threw on a big weight with a hook on top with the defrosted smelt and bam. I caught a few like that. I was doing this in like 20-30ft of water.

Check your PM gonna give you some more info about something else.

Appreciate the info. I'm going to be staying at Lake Lauzon Resort right next to Hwy 11....the back of my cabin is actually separated from the highway by a fence!

Good luck on your trip and looking forward to your report!

My trip of a lifetime to Ireland for monster pike last year was obviously cancelled for well known reasons but i still keep my hopes to go there one day

Due to some mechanica issues with the trailer, I didnt' get here until late yesterday so I only did a little scouting run around to look for structure on my DV.
Got up early this morning and went to a couple of my spots that I found with rocks 15-25' down. Managed to catch 13 small (probably male) smallies, all with red eyes and all around 1lb. No pics done yet.
When I arrived, I was told that I should go down to Lauzon Creek below the dam. Kids were pulling in 5-6lb smallies by the boat load fishing from the bank. Apparently they are trying to get from Lake Huron up the creek to Lauzon, but there's a dam in the way so they're stacked in there like cordwood!! I'll probably make a trek down there tomorrrow as the wind is supposed to be near 25mph tomorrow.

I went out for a few hours this afternoon trying to find the ladies with no success, but I did have two nice surprises. I had a visit by a bald eagle that came from behind me carrying a fish on the way to the nest. Way too fast for me to grab the camera! A little later, I was sitting at the console with the power poles down, re-tying because of frayed line. i noticed something moving in the water and looked down just in time to see about a 40" muskie gliding beneath the middle of the boat before disappearing into deeper water.
I need a camera man!!!
Storms moving in tonight. Right now there's a tornado warning east of Wawa, but we're not supposed to get nasty here until around midnight.

Good Luck with "sleeping the night" before.

In my case, just can't sleep if I'm heading a fun event the next day. GOlf/ Fishing, doesn't matter.
Example, I golfed yesterday....but got 'conservatively' only 1 hr sleep the night before. (and the score reflected it too)
I get so anxious I can't sleep. The more you try the worse it is. Wish I could take a pill for it....lol.

Hope you don't get what I got....

Good Luck at Lauzon!

Ok, who turned on the fans? I went out early this morning in 10mph winds. I managed 6 smaller fish and one about 3.5lb, then someone cranked up the winds. I'm in the cabin watching recorded TV shows on my laptop because the wind is blowing about 25mph with gusts up close to 40mph. Fortunately I was able to tie up the boat behind a houseboat out of the wind so it won't get beat up on the dock. I think I might be done for the day because the wind will be up until close to midnight. That means on the water all day tomorrow!!
Oh, I did check out the Lauzon Creek where they were catching all the smallies trying to migrate into this lake from Huron. Turns out it's on the south side of the highway....out of season for bass!! The highway is the dividing line for open season on bass all year north of the highway, south of the road it's still the 3rd Sat in June!! Oh well.

Did I mention that gas prices are greatly inflated up here? The price right now is $1.38.9L in Blind River compared to $1.26.9 at my regular station in Markham.

WOW a bald eagle. I see osprey all season stealing fish right in front of me as they dive into the water. BUT a bald eagle, WOW. That is on my bucket list. I have never seen one up close in the wild yet. Glad you got to fish today a bit. Tomorrow you will have much better weather. Great Luck and stay safe.
