That’s a nice catch! It’s a tough go getting to 30” on that lake, 28” is rare.
Here’s one from couple years ago, other side of the lake, same lake. Promptly released. Came up tail first, unhooked. Friend Al caught it.
And then 5 minutes later in the spot. Unicorn for that lake (well a few more than people think). Caught by my friend Paul.
For sure, lakers that big do not seem to be too plentiful in the lake but I have seen a couple close if not over 30" posted already since I moved up to this area. The largest being one weighing about 15lbs I was told (was released). And with James' 28+" laker, there should be a few over 30" even if rare...maybe the lake is changing and fish are getting larger overall as well? Who knows. Things can be so dynamic sometimes. Nice walleye from the lake as well. I have been hearing more reports of catches from the north end of the lake. For those of you who know the lake, are there any serious reports of crappie being caught? There are a few lakes not too far away with crappie but I have only heard from one pretty reliable source of a crappie being caught from this lake. Pike numbers are increasing and alot more people are catching them.

Don't know if there are any crappies on that lake. All I know are lakers, whitefish, pike, and burbot. Of course there are also bass, and loads of smelts, ... :-)

What James said - and reportedly a crappie caught, but not worth targeting. Reportedly the odd walleye - not worth targeting.

Agree. Just wondering if people are hearing more about crappie. Usually, if they start to show up, they go through a boom cycle and that lake will load up with them until some balance is reached. Walleye: seems like the number of reports are going up according to some of my sources, which is a good news and maybe one day, I will stumble across a few while targeting WF.
