Got out today in the Muskoka region with Michael Kerwin. We anticipated needing our snowshoes for the walk out but ended up leaving them in the car. The slush layer on the surface of the lake had mostly frozen over (at least for the morning). Low winds and temperatures right around 0 allowed us to sit comfortably outside the entire day.
Overall, you couldn't ask for better conditions out on the hard-water. The fishing on the other hand, was very slow.
I landed a lake trout around 10:30am but marks were few and far between after that.
We marked fish sporadically, between the two of us, probably less than 6 or 7 fish for the day.
A few of the marked fish:
Lake trout that followed up to 20'
Uninterested whitefish
Not the results we were hoping for but it was great getting out to fish with another fellow LSO board member!

Yes indeed: ideal conditions -- easy access, warm temps, and no wind -- but sadly no fish. Mike and I moved a lot during the day covering various depths but obviously, the fish weren't using the same solunar calendar as I was. On the bright side, however, my sonar worked and it was great to get out with Mike for the first time.

So did you find out what was wrong with the sonar in the end?
The unit worked just fine in the shallower water we fished yesterday. However, we didn't fish deep enough to really test whether or not the sonar would get a bottom reading below 72'. I did do a factory reset as was suggested. Guess I'll have to get out again next week to find out for sure!

There are a few deeper holes between where you guys went out and the large island. G'luck if you do get out...hoping to as well but I'm not fishing in waters more than about 50' at the deepest...but I am hoping to explore another area that I can access from a friend's home and there is some really deep water not too far away.
