I find it unacceptable to believe that it would be okay to boat because you live on the water or your boat is already in the water. That is what I describe as entitlement, and is the exact same reason people continue break protocol.

Please, please, tell me how anyone who lives on the water with their boat on their dock is spreading this virus. I work everyday as an essential worker, get groceries as needed and such. I don’t need to get gas to go out front of my house to go get a feed of crappie. I can drop my electric and go. So your essential trips argument was exactly what why I bought waterfront in the first place. As to me putting a burden to the first responders , I call bullshit. I follow the same protocol as I have always done. All proper gear has always been in place. Three of my friends are first responders, they are getting their full shifts with only 1-2 calls a day/night at the moment. So that being said , in 53 yrs on the water I have never called on 911 , never going to say I would never need them. Be prepared, don’t go out in crap conditions, safe boating always !!! So again, if I want some crappies right now, I am going to walk out my door, down to my dock and going to go get them . You say entitled , so be it . Season is still exactly the same no difference. Wonder how you guys will feel about this about trout or turkey season?

I have no problem with what you are doing at all. In fact I envy your situation

there are always exceptions in any scenario

Sorry I am just going to lock this thread.

Unfortunately due to the uncertainty and the social acceptability of fishing at this time, with all outdoor recreational amenities closed and the bulk of "public access" closed this has created a rift in the hunting and fishing community, and effectively divided us and now we argue back and forth, trying to find justification, what is right and what is wrong.. and it goes on, and on, cutting deeper into our comradery..

I can point fingers and address who has the power to end these arguments, but I won't -- I said enough..

Staying home and only travelling for essential reason is the only way, WE can collectively get out of this pandemic.

I leave this discussion with this definition:

Comradery is the spirit of friendship and community in a group, like the comradery of soldiers at war who keep each other upbeat despite the difficulty of their circumstances.
