What do they need (legally) for flotation?

My boat is just over 20ft, I know there is foam but believe it is all above the deck, under the back seat area, along the side and under the front casting deck.
or at least I hope there isn't any under the deck. I'm not sure about the rules though, I was told that if it was put in you couldn't touch it.

My 2 cents...foam in the construction was the difference between my boat sitting three quarter submerged and at the bottom about 20 feet down.
It was at a resort and though no driving of the boat was involved ALCOHOL was.

I was able to swim it over to the launch and my waiting trailer...no costs to me.

It dried out and i am 17feet and loaded with gear.

Jay, you bought this boat back in June and were a happy camper. Since then you've discovered that you have buyers remorse by calling it the boat from hell.

Here is my advice since you did not provide much detail or pictures where this is in the structure of your boat. Hire an accredited marine surveyor. Trust me.

Didn't like my surveyor advice eh?

I bet you could put out a fire with your stringers.

Have fun with that transom.

Iím sure the guy doing the transom will let me know what shape the stringers are in no need to pay a third party when I have a shop already doing the work I have gone up and down the stringers and there is no rot not to say they are not wet underneath the glass but will deal with that in a few years when I have to do floors.
