My weather app predicted good weather for kayak fishing today. Overcast and low winds. So I decided to take a personal day and try Sturgeon Lake for some bass.
Launched around sun up and the water was very calm - rare for Sturgeon.
Predicted weather was pretty much spot on. Mostly overcast with low wind and no rain where I was. Sun came out a few times.
I never truly figured out a pattern today - they seemed to be cruising with the overcast skies. So I ended up just covering water and tended to pick up
a fish here and there, no big flurries of action, but enough to keep me interested.
Managed to catch 2 small walleye and around a dozen smallies - most around 14-15 inches, but a few better ones mixed in. 0 for 1 on muskie - of course a decent muskie hits on my ML combo. Fought for about 10 seconds before it cut my 6lb line.
Good day overall - off the water a little after 3pm.
