With the consistent temps and weather the last few days, and a rain system moving in on Sunday, I figured the fish would be setting up to eat fairly well this weekend.
We hit the water about 6:00, and it was like glass.

After hitting a few spots and having some decent follows, I hoped the wind would pick up to turn them into biters. This lake is gin clear, so they always bite a bit better when there’s a bit of a breeze to break up the surface, seems to make them a touch less edgy.
After about an hour, we got a slight breeze, so we headed to an area that usually holds a few fish. First one that hit was about 36”. Scarred all to heck, but she fought hard and took off like a bullet when released.

About ten casts later, we hit one that absolutely crushed a swimbait. She was just a hair over 40” and super thick too.

We managed one more smaller one about 30”, and had several more follows and my son lost one about 36” right at the boat ( gotta work on those hook sets), and got off the water about 11:00 cause it was getting hot! Water was 59 deg and there were a ton of bass beds in the shallows, which was nice to see as they should be all done by the time bass season opens up. All in all, it was a pretty decent morning on the water.
