Got back today from a couple nights camping trip.. Sat morning 10 minutes after wetting a line, we got a little 2.5 lb laker. Thought we’d be in for a good day, but it proved to be a bit tougher than expected. Winds were high, making it challenging to fish….but we kept at it. Managed 3 little ones in a 45 min. window in the evening, and that was it. Only another 24 years until retirement, and I’ll be spending a lot more time up there.

First fish…

Three quick ones like this….all three hooks on the treble burried. Small lakers less than a pound…hard to believe they can even open their mouths that far

I’ve been transitioning from sucker heads to white tube jigs on the treble hook the last couple of years… mostly because they’re not $20/dozen…I’m not sure if these catch as many fish…but I’m slowly gaining confidence in this setup.

Yup, regular site was taken. More wind and waves at this one, but a lot nicer sunset views! And community lawn chairs too! Not too shabby for a second pick.

That little laker reminds me of those we often pull up from L Joe in the winter and all too often the hook is deep in the throat so they become keepers. I have caught rinky dinky bass on a lure that's almost as big as the the fish----like, what were you thinking little fella??

Looks like a good outing. As I see it, on any outing the trip itself counts for 90% of the mark. The fish get credit for the final 10%!!
