Just had one of my best days ever out on the water this past weekend, jigging spoons for lakers and whitties. Not sure what was going on, but the fish were on fire! I couldn't even tell you how many whitties I got. I also got into some big lakers, including a 15lber (my biggest ever by far). Jigging is such an effective way to target these fish in the summer, definitely give it a try if you haven't yet!

Just another great video with some real beautiful fish. Don't let your dog lick your face now... yuk. That is exactly how I fish for walleye in a boat in the kawarthas during the day. A totally different bait but the same slow jig. It is rare for me to be out during the day but a family member can't fish like I do at night. So when we go out in the boat I use a 10 inch zoom worm, the pumpkin one. I just gently jig it in and out of the weeds as we drift down the lake. Then wham a walleye hits it. That bait may sound big but the walleye and bass just love it. At night when I have used it the walleye and bass do not hit it. It just goes down very slow under my bobber and you barely feel it until the fish turns to swim away...then I set the hook. If you set the hook too soon there will never be a fish there because at night the fish always start at the tail. Congratulations on your biggest trout. We really enjoyed the video.

Those big Lakers always seem to be close to the whitefish schools… they eat them whole. Nice fish.
