Went to the the park on Sunday for an afternoon/evening fish. I figured half a day fishing is better than nothing, even though it’s a long drive for me. On the water by 330pm and fished a couple hours with only one hit. Decided to take a break on shore as it was windy and hard to control the speed of lure on canoe. Gave my blood donation to the black flies waiting and the skeeters got their share too at sunset when I was packing up. They were brutal.
Winds died down so I tried to put in a couple more hours of fishing. Got a solid hit around 7pm and felt some weight. When the fish got close to the canoe it took several runs and it put up a great fight. Lost one other one that seemed smaller. First Algonquin splake at 20” and only my second ever caught.

impressive splake! From my experience the AP splake lakes are either tiny and shallow where they have a hard time reaching good sizes, or theyre in larger lakes that are polluted with bass and perch. Thats a good one for sure

Nice fish! My friends and I were at a lake which was next to AP two years ago. We managed to land 5 spake all 14 to 17 inches. We were using hammers and worms. They were marking in 10 - 20 FOW.
