Hey everyone, me and a few buddies are up on south shore area. We’ve been skunked two days in a row. One small eye and one herring we think haha. Just wanted a good last day on the ice tomorrow.
Been using pink and other coloured buckshots and spoons. All with live minnows, waxies, and preserved minnows. That’s what we’ve tried so far.
Any tips would be fantastic for a last day out there.

Don’t be afraid to use just the minnow head.

Yes do this if possible. A couple years back I was having the same trouble. Fished 2 days and skunked. Came back to the same hut the following weekend with same lures except as small as I would use for perch with only small minnows and caught tons. Even tried for fun putting the bigger buckshot on and no bites.

As well as downsizing I always set up a pickerel rig on a dead stick with the weight on bottom and then let another 2-3" down. That way it gives the fish a minute to eat the minnow before feeling resistance.

Hope this helps and let us know how you did good or bad!

Change locations. Could be in a dead spot. Lack of dink perch is a sign.

a light rod and line with a spit shot and single lively minnow has never failed me yet

1-4 feet off bottom and vary you minnow sizes
