I just got a call from SSIC and was told that the lake conditions where their huts are is not good so they cancelled my booking for tomorrow. 26 to 28. I contacted Angler's Haven and got too book a 6 man with them. Any info would be great, thanks in advance

With all the rain and slush we are forced to move our ice huts and can not do this with people in them. We are sorry for the having to cancel anyone but we can not operate without the move. Water is touching the floor joist in 10 of the 17 huts and there is slush around the rest. There is no damage to our huts and the lake is safe. We will be in operation for the weekend.

I could only assume that with all the rain on Sunday, their huts were partly under water now and frozen in so it takes a few days to cut them out, jack them up and re-establish a safe environment.

We got a lot of rain on Sunday.

We ran into a similar situation with Bear Creek the last week of the season one year. There was plenty of ice, but we got a warm spell that melted lots of the snow cover. We went during the week. Day 1 everything was fine. By the 2nd morning we woke up to waves under the hut and a pool of water surrounding it. Lots of slush. We had to shuttle our gear 100yds to the snow machine @ pickup. There was nothing unsafe about the ice (they were actually going to wait to start pulling huts), but they were fully booked for that weekend and had to call it a season. Everybody after us got canceled.

Just got back from Anglers Haven
Sunday was brutal weather wise with rain snow and winds gusting to 100k per hour
I thought for sure the roof of hut was going to fly off or entire hut move
The hut was solid the power remained and heat was all in working order
We left Tuesday morning and they were taking guys out
The only small issue was the ride back in because of the choppy ice
There huts remained the same after that weather
BTW the fishing was very slow and glad to be home alive
Fortinos has lots of pickerel
Lol
