What a great day. What an awesome event. I am so proud of our fishing club working in conjunction with The MNR and the Town of Oakville to again be part of Chinook fingerlings being released. A great community event that involved young and old. There were two pens and when the ministry showed up with the tank on a truck containing 30,000 Chinook salmon the kids lined up with their buckets. One by one their buckets were filled with water and fish. They then walked them towards the plastic slide that dumped water and salmon into the pen. When all the salmon are in the pen they will be floated across to a dock in the Outer Harbour Marina. There is an auto feeder that releases food pellets into the pens every morning. The pens will stay there for about a month. This clematises them and also orients them to return to Bronte as adults. In a month they will be towed into the lake far offshore and released so as their predators wont get them. Quite a process and amazing to see. What is really amazing is that these 1.5 inch fingerlings reach a size of about 30 lbs in just 4 years as adults. I will post a series of pictures of the event.

The lineup is long ....so good for them to be involved in this....it gives them that feeling of being part of this great community event. Also as possible future fisher persons.
