After supper tonight my son andI decided to try a local splake lake. We started fishing around 6:30 and after a few minutes I had solid weight on my trolled spoon. The fish was pulling hard because he was wrapped up in the line but we finally got him in the net. He was 23 inches and ouleed the scale at exactly 4.0 pounds. We were thrilled.

We carried onnwith my son casting and me trolling when he had a solid strike. After a lot of give and take we netted this one as well. 20.5 inches and 2.8 pounds. Another gorgeous trout.

There were a couple fish that followed and plenty of fish taking ayflies off the surface but no more hookups. An exciting night of fishing. We called it wuits at 8:30 and went home to clean fish.

wow---nice splake indeed!

How far North were you fishing?

From my limited experience, when they are feeding on Mayflies that is the end of any good fishing for a while. They seem to gorge on the Mayfly larvae.
