Well we didn’t get one single drop up here of the deluge that the south got, so I took the kid out again this afternoon for a few hours to chase some pike on the bay this time.
It was super windy, but we’re on the calm side of the bay today, so it wasn’t too bad out there. Was a nice warm breeze at least to keep the bugs away.

Managed to get 6 smaller pike, a few big incidental oos smallies, and a nice rainbow, and the kid lost another rainbow even bigger when it jumped.
I’m sure these bows are from Depot Harbour, but we were over 20 miles away from there so they’ve been travelling over the winter. You never know what’s gonna hammer your bait when your on the bay.

Ice day out with your son. Hard to tell from the pic but that bow looks to be a great shape and no warm fins or tail. Could just be a proper steelhead. 👍🏻

Yeah I suppose it could be, it was in pretty good shape. I do know a bunch got loose last fall so they’d definitely have time to make it to where we were fishing, and from other people I’ve talked to, rainbows are being caught all over the place right now. He sure didn’t fight like the pen fish I’ve caught before, pulled and jumped like crazy. Had a belly full of snails and dragonfly nymphs. Either way, it was a fun couple hours out with the kid.

That rainbow looks like a wild one to me in this picture, I wish I could see the fins more;). The pair below is from the depot
