They are biting good
Details…..when, where, why and how?
Well it was not Balsam lake that's for sure. Balsam lake is not that colour, especially this year. And Balsam walleye have more gold on them than black. Also Balsam walleye are mean fish, those look like they are very friendly. LOL

So my buddy and I fished Balsam’s east side today from 2-5:30 and nothing. We each only had a smallie hit in shallow water beside the Isle de Grande but no hookup. We tried shallow and deep with top waters, spinners, Rapalas, drop shots, mepps Muskie spinners, trolled a bit. Blade baits, jigging raps, senkos, paddle tails, swim baits, bass jigs and a ‘72 beetle. What a disappointment, but the weather sure was beautiful.

I went to Balsam today, and the walleye are finicky during the day, or at least to around 2 pm. I only landed two, but they have been consistently only going for worm harnesses with a crawler, or a silver coloured bait. This is the first year, in about ten, they they have stayed away from white and perch colours (swim jogs, spinnerbaits, or hard white spinners). Maybe its my new boat (it's red). Oh wait, my last one was also red. No idea. Like I mentioned previously, I am catching almost three times my normal amount of fish (pike, walleye and bass), so I'm not changing now. I was alone today, so no pics.

Hard to beat the worm harness and bottom bouncer , after the spring jigging that’s basically all I use for walleye and it works everywhere I go. Rippin the weeds can be effective too on high pressure sunny days

I figured out why it's going to be so hot today. Not one but two sun's came up today when I was leaving work. One in the middle of the picture and one in the left corner. Don't forget the sun screen and water. There was a quarter moon still out as well. And a UFO to the left of the moon. LOL
