Although the water levels are still much too high to put out our docks and boat, I still managed to Have a great day out in my Kayak. Water was pretty rough in the morning but dead calm this evening. Finished the day with about 15 eyes including 2 keepers. Largest was just under 22 inches. Gotta love it !

Sounds and looks like a great day!

....quick question...although the water level is high, were you still catching walleye in your usual spots for this time of year?

Unfortunately I wasnít able to get to my usual spots because they were too far to travel by kayak. I just paddled out to the the closest shoal to my place and had pretty good results. Used jig and minnow as well as artificials and both were pretty good. Hope this helps.

I dig the rig. I enjoy paddling and fishing from a canoe. Nice, quiet and odorless. Nice bunch of fish.

A Fishing Tale:
So yesterday I missed a decent fish. I didnít get a look at it but knew it had some weight to it. I went back to the same shoal today to give it another go. It was really overcast and wavy, making maneuvering the kayak a challenge. I used up my remaining minnows yesterday so I stuck to plastics and even tried worms. Bite was very slow. There was a break in the clouds and the sun started to break through and I noticed a dead minnow floating by my kayak. I scooped up the minnow and put it on my jig and immediately hooked a 14 incher. I got it in and even managed to salvage the minnow. The next cast I felt a solid hit. I set the hook and knew it was a good one. Not sure if it was the one I missed yesterday but brought in this 27 inch beauty. It was like a revelation. Really put a smile on my face! God I love fishing!
