When I was a kid I used to look through the back of Ontario Out of Doors magazines and fantasize about all of the Fly -in lodges that advertised there and how awesome it would be to go to one. In particular, I remember I used to circle the ones that had multiple species on offer. Life, and a million other fishing adventures had put a fly-in trip on the back burner until an opportunity came up a couple of years ago. After my first trip I was ready to start planning the next one lol.

This years trip was a little different. A friend of a friend was in the process of acquiring a camp on a widening of the Albany River called Caviar Lake. He is a bit of brook trout fanatic (me too) and he felt strongly about it's potential through reports and stories from old timers. We started doing a little digging and aside from brookies, pike and walleye, it seemed sturgeon were a possibility as well. A multi species bonanza that I'd always dreamed of.

The camp hadn't been used in years but the outfitter went in with some new motors and supplies to get the camp up to "rustic" standards. No surprises, as we made it clear that all we really needed was reliable boats and a plane to get us there - we were well prepared to deal with anything else. It all came together at the last minute when Nakina Air agreed to take us in.

Enough blathering, I'll let the pics speak.

The Chariot awaits.

Chasing waterfalls and specks - not a fun boat to portage.

That's all from me but my bud put a report with a bunch more pics up on Mike Borger's fly in site. Search Canada fishing guide to find it. If you've never done a fly in, I can't recommend it enough. It's something every serious angler should experience. As far as vacations go they really aren't that expensive either.
