Winds were calm today so the wife and I decided to take our son out on the bay for a troll and have lunch at Craganmore on the way back in to Parry Sound. We were pretty slow getting out in the morning, didnít get fishing till 11:00 and only fished for an hour before the heat and hunger got the best of us, but we did alright. My 8 year old fought this one in all by himself, 10lbs even. I only brought my light rainbow gear and she almost spooled him a couple times, I donít know who was more exited, my son or me
Didnít mark too much, but we were only out for an hour or so. Did have two more knockoffs, one was a real heavy fish but it came off after only about 30 seconds or so.

I want to get back out to this spot either real early in the morning or late in the evening. Itís a big deep trough with shallow water on either side, and the fish seem to hold in this area fairly well. When I used to do charters out there about 15 years ago, weíd always do well out there and youíd never see another boat anywhere. I hear theyíre getting them around 12 mile this year as well, should be a decent year for a few nice eaters.
