We've been going up there for about 20 years as well, we used to camp on Wiceksteed but for the last 10 or 12 years we've been staying at Beaverland

Hey Guys how did you do? We are heading up on the 20th for 4 days. Looking forward to it. Been going up to Beaverland on and off for the last 25+ years. Haven't been up there in the last 10 though. I am guessing other than Mike and Laurie being the owners now not much has changed. Any tips would be appreciated.

Fishing was really good this year.. Lots of walleye in the 16"to 20" range. However we could not hook up any real big ones. The wife caught the biggest at 23 inches and it was pretty chunky.. All fish were caugh on jigs and live minnows... We fish a pretty private lake in the area so boat traffic is minimal.. The small mouth bass were on fire and almost every place we found the walleye the bass would move in and shut down the eyes. Damn those minnow Steelers..lol.. We are heading back up on Wednesday for another week.. We too have been going up and fishing the area for 23 years and just love the area.. We Always watch for property for sale in the area as my wife and I would buy in a heartbeat..
I find the river and chain of lakes pretty tuff fishing but if you know the area and some spots you can do well..
Cheers Dave..

Just got back from Marten river on Friday night, bass fishing was off the charts!!!! Landed 25 walleye the biggest being 19 inches, thats a far cry from the 70 we landed in the spring with the biggest being 25.5 inches. Most walleye caught last week were on jigs with leeches or worms, a few caught trolling a worm harness, bass were hitting anything we put in the water. Good luck and tight lines.

Ha ha those damn bass..lol
Bait stealers all of them...
You are right, we couldn't get away from the bass either.. We would get on the eyes for a little while and then the bass would take over...
They were on fire... Thank for the report...

2 days and counting! Glad you did well Wicker. Would you be willing to share where the Eyes were biting? Were they at the common spots? ( Frenchman's Bay, 1st Bridge, channel between little and big Marten, Panfish, etc.)
