My buddy and I were supposed to head up to Temagami area for a fishing / camping trip last week but the weather forecast looked sort of like crap. So, the backup plan became stealing his parents' cottage and boat for a few days of fishing in the archipelago. This was a good backup plan! The bass were everywhere you would expect and they were hungry. Once we found the right shoals, we found the big fish. I finally cracked the 6 lbs plateau and came very close to 7 lbs - this thickness was 6.75 lbs

Caught some other pretty nice smallies - they seemed to love the drop shot worm and green tube jigs

Last cast of the evening on our first night landed me a very unexpected fish - the cat also seemed to like the drop shot???

But the most memorable fish was absolutely this medium sized smallmouth which got HAMMERED by a big ol' musky right at the boat. The musky was never hooked - just hanging onto the bass - and I fought for 10 min on a medium light set up before it simply let go

Amazing what a muskie will try and eat. And usually succeed at it.
