I've stayed at Marmac Lodge on Esnagi Lake a time or two. We went in by train from White River. Very nice, although a bit pricey. Pretty sure you'll catch your limit of Walleye.

There are a lot of lodges in that area, check out fishing in Algoma region. Fly in, train in and drive in, each have their own positives and some negatives. Do you wish to do your own cooking or get on a meal plan, some include all your gas which is quite expensive right now, is there bait at the lodge are some things to look for. Fozzy mentions Esnagi Lake, remember it is 26 miles long so a guide is quite handy to help you locate fish. The train also means you have to run on their schedule but it is an experience, it comes from either White River or you can take it from Sudbury. It’s the famed Budd train. Also can stop in Chapleau, Debruiville and other places that have lodges. Fly in trips limit you to 100 lbs. per person so if you are taking in food, beer etc., it can quickly reach the limit. Hope this helps a little.

We are staying at Camp Lochalsh in September, it’s one of 5 lodges on the lake run by the same people, Loch Island Lodge being the home base. Haven’t been to this lake before, but it looks promising, hard to go too far wrong up there. It’s one where you can access the lake all 3 ways, fly in, drive in or train in. 22 miles long, walleye, pike, perch, whitefish, ling and trout are all in the area although trout season closes September first. Lots of lakes to portage to if you are so inclined. Because of the roads in the area, I’m not sure how much fishing pressure the lake gets and I’m not sure if there are cottages on the lake. I can give you a review in September but that’s the best I can do. Once there, we will decide if we need to hire a guide. They do have a group shore lunch every day, will clean and cook your fish for you and provide all the extras. That’s included in some packages but offered for others at a cost each day you want to go.

Esnagi Lake is a great Lake no doubt, if you do decide on it, you may want to consider Esnagi Lake Lodge for its mid lake location. Likely similarly priced with 88 and MarMac, also accessed by the same train, same drop off point but then it’s easier to fish the whole lake. You would have to check to make sure they have everything you need.

I have fished white Lake a few times and camped in the Provincial park. The walleye and pike fishing is excellent. We averaged 60 walleyes a day and that many pike as well between 3 guys. There is White Lake Lodge which is located on highway 17 between the park and the town of White River.
