Posted a warning on the simcoe board...ice is not safe yet anywhere and everywhere. Thought I would post twice because some people do not listen the first time. Mutiple stories of unsafe ice from police. Wait at least two more weeks people. You only live once. If you stay alive today you can fish another day.

I can tell you ice is safe in front of my place and in some areas of other lakes. People are responsible for their own lives and should do their own research. Saying it is not safe anywhere means that you have been everywhere.

My writing may be a bit rough around the edges. That is because of my extreme enthusiasm over safety. If I hear of or see something unsafe I say something. There has been so many reports of unsafe ice from my sources, it is better to pause and use caution. The alternative could be regret. Almost 1400 people have read my post on the simcoe board and almost 500 hits on this board. If only one person out of that mass of people stopped and checked their own excitement and enthusiasm for getting out ice fishing. Then that moment of pause might have prevented them from getting their feet wet or worse. I read so many posts that finish with tight lines and stay safe all year long. So Happy New Year and STAY SAFE.

crappeeman, your heart is in the right place, so keep posting. I appreciate your insight and enthusiasm as do many others. The advantage of boards like these as they are also a way to express different points of view, so you have to be a politician and develop thick skin. Some people won't like some things, and that's okay. I post less than I used to, as some of the comments on other postings I felt were unwarranted. For that reason, I avoid all of the grams (insta and others). I see this as a way to pass the time typing to people who at least like fishing, so we all have something in common.

Its now 2021, so let's try and be nice. All the best for the New year, and thanks to all the moderators who make this possible. Our community looks out for everyone, but no one knows everything.
