you can see on the satellite that the winds have forced the ice to break off and drift away up near orillia Hopefully some of this cold weather coming stiffens things up

she was popping and banging all night so she was making more ice last night for sure. A lot of the top snow melted with the sun and warmer temps last few days so it would allow for ice to expand well.

Is that Taj from Cassie's? If it is, i spoke to him earlier today, he said he's pulling everything out tomorrow.

I'm getting mixed messages from a few operators I've called today. Understanding that they want/need the business, they are telling me that we should keep off the ice with ATV's or snowmobiles, yet they are saying that they are pulling out their huts starting tomorrow with snowmobiles, argos etc... and they are going to pull out clients in the covered wagons behind these machines in the next couple of days.

I get that everyone is responsible for their own destiny, but we ice fishermen are a community that help each other so that we can safely enjoy the sport that we love. does anyone else think I'm crazy for planning to pull my gear out of VB on Sat behind my ATV? Especially if the operators are doing so.

I'm stepping off the soapbox now

Remember they will check their path out and take the same path every time. We would go out and move around a bit.

I would think if you take your own machine out, follow the path they take and don't stray to far off

Hopefully the ice had locked up and can take on the 20-30(mph) winds with gusts up to 40 today. With continued freezing temps for the next 7 days.... Iím taking the trip up 18-20 with my 12 year old nephew (his 1st trip to lake Simco).

He has 2 huts out now. He knows the ice I wouldn't travel to far past him tho lol. Other operators in the area put the huts in different areas some of those areas are not ready yet .

Does anybody have a good phone number for Randy's huts? The one I've had for years isn't in service 705-437-2989. Thanks
