Was at the Waltonian from Thursday until Sunday. There was 5 in the group but only 3 fishing full time. Caught 172 eyes with 5 keepers. Small spoons with minnows seemed to work the best. Can't wait to get back up there next month!

That's is a nice amount of fish caught. Kinda crappy that only 3% were keepers, basically a 1/2 a daily limit for your group for the 4 days. Just seems so odd that every year, there are so many 16inch,17inch fish caught and so few over 18.1. It also seems very odd that if the bigger fish are all in different areas from the smaller, that one of the operators all of which know the lake very well, doesn't figure it out. The only logical answer is the keepers are being taken from the lake somehow every year. I'm certainly no expert but just seems silly that year after year garners the same results. Do walleye have a high mortality rate once they hit 18.1? certainly that's not the size they finally get too smart to bite. It seems reasonable that 20 inch fish and higher might be scarce, but where do all the 16 and 17 inch fish disappear to each year?

I agree it seems like there are am abundance of those 15-17 inchers being caught every year. If those 18 plus fish are being harvested every year than maybe time for a slot change amd let those bigger fish start breeding? Im not am expert either nor a biologist but seems to me like a 24 inch eye would produce a larger amount of fish when they spawn. Either way they are fun to catch but 1 or 2 for the pan would be nice

Fore sure Awesome report. Something has to change, right now the MNR is getting their cake and eating too. Even a one fish limit any size would be better then this B.S. At this point I'd buy a 5 dollar Lake Nip Walleye Tag good for one walleye a year any size. I was going to put lol but I'm not joking.
