A coworker gave me this camera for free. It needs a new battery.
My question is it really worth bringing to Nipissing . Can it see 20 plus feet down. Would the cable get in the way of landing a fish.
Anyone have any experience with one on Nipissing.

I've seen them work good when the water is clear. They work better looking sideways, you will want to put it down a whole that you are not fishing. I've seen visibility up to about 8' but that is rare, sometimes only a few inches.
Can be entertaining watching the mudpuppies.

I had one of the above ones a few years back, tried it in Nipp and could barely see 2 feet at best. That water is so tea stained it's not worth it. Tried the same in Simcoe down 95 feet and it could probably go 15-20 feet and very clear.

I thought it might not be to useful. I took the back off to check out the battery. Turns out it's the same one in my flasher, so at least I don't have to purchase a new one.
Look forward to hearing how you make out Fish_Finder
Cheers

One of our group brought one up this weekend, used it for 5 minutes and put it away. Not made for Nipissing.

Pretty slow so far, having fairly steady action on cisco and perch unforetunetly they are not what we came up here for. Only a few eyes landed so far and all under the slot size, very strange after the action we had last year. We will cotinue to give it 100 percent and the party will go on

All in all I was pretty happy with the quality of picture. I found it was more helpful if your ice fishing a lake where you're home hopping. Helps to see the structure . Drill a hole drop the camera and take a look around. Move on if you don't like what you see.

I find that the underwater viewing conditions change daily on Nip. Sometimes I can see 5 ft or so and other times I care see 2. When you see big fish on there the cams can be quite exciting.

Iíve wondered how the black cable hanging down 5 feet away from your lure would affect/spook the fish.
