Well you may try this park

McKee Park, 3026 Sandwich St, Windsor, ON N9C 1A3

Supposed to be a free boat launching, not sure if for a parking as well

I’m from Guelph too..

thanks for that , seems like the locals do want outsiders around , no replies , just yours out of 91, probably going to get a hotel ,meals, so you would think there would be a bit of encouragement

Hardly anyone on this site is likely to fish the Detroit. Maybe a couple at best I wouldn’t expect a lot of replies. The launch at Windsor is ok. I’d consider lower down at Lasalle. There is a big boat launch, but more importantly you can fish the salt docks and the tip of fighting island drifts, which is usually where I see kayaks. Be very mindful that there is a ton of boat traffic, the current is pretty strong and if there is any major wind it can blow up in a hurry. I’ve been caught in legit 4 footers once when caught in a south blow of 40 k winds that came out of nowhere. South is worst, but nonetheless use caution in any wind with a kayak. Good luck. Look up Lance Valentine on Facebook. He is a good resource for beginners and has maps of a bunch of the common drifts.
