A friend was out about 500 yards today. 9" near shore and 6" black ice further out.

Was told all ice hut Op on the south shore go out and flood the ice to make it thicker faster to get the huts out for opener 2014 season

I was out today 2.5 miles to the fishing grounds and 12"-13" of black ice all the way, with very little snow cover. Best first ice conditions in years, all ready to start hauling huts boxing day for the Jan. 1st opener!!

Thanks for the reports. We are ready to run!!! I have been too busy fishing on nosbonsing to go to nipissing yet to check on thickness off sunset point where we launch from. Michelle and I had 7" on nosbonsing today and a couple huts on the ice. No fish yet so we are trying again tomorrow.
