Nipissing line choice

Curious as to what lines people use given the stained water in Nip. I typically run braid as my main line with a fluoro leader but last year I was bit off more than a few times...either nice pike or big Walleye...so I decided to fish straight braid...didn't seem to matter as I smoked them all hardwater season but I always wonder if I am missing any....especially on my 2nd rod which is deadsticking...

If Nip was clear, no question...fluoro leader but given the reduced water clarity I am interested in others opinions

I have been using straight braid when ice fishing Nipissing for the past couple of years, seems to work well IMO.

I use both, floro and main braid. makes no differnce in the end due to clarity.

Very few breakoffs, but i go ulta light

For pike setups, I go heavier line setup with freespool and rarely miss them with that setup.

I'll double up on what longshank said. Mostly because my gears always rigged up that way from Simcoe

I have been told that the Nanofil line is the best but the stuff is expensive. I have never used, is it no stretch? And why do expensive. What are its advantages for hard water if any. Just curious

I use rope ,,,,, lol,,,,,,, just kidding ,ice blue sub zero 20lb test is what I use never hade an issue with it

No idea, you don't need it for Nip, nor anywhere else as far as I'm conerned.

Having said that I have herad good things about nanofill while others tried it and swithced back to their original prefernce

I've stuck with p-line floro ice and braid, super slick, sufix 832 and it's worked very well.

Suppose its sme principal as a high end ice rod vs a cheaper one. Both work.

IN my experience it's more the guy on end of the rod. When using ultr liete , you just take ur time and let the drag do the work it's intended to do rather than flipping out and a## hauling a fish up and breaking off just belolw ice.

to me all line is good and every one has there fav like Ls said just take your time its not a race work it and you will land your fish every time with no brake off......... just my 2 cents ,,,
