I got two whitefish in Bernard last year in 4 feet of water, sand bottom. Just drilled the holes so the kids had something to look down...jigging a spoon and bam. Middle of the day, bright sun.

She's not even close to ready!! Went out yesterday.... 100 yards out over shallow water found 5" and from there things deteriated quickly. On average the majority of the lake is less then 3" with some spots even worse. Use extreme caution and to be safe I'd say wait a few weeks still

I agree with you hitman, just got back in a while ago from in front of my house and measured 2.5 to 3 inches and that was only in 4 feet of water but not far from the dropoff.Three wacks with the pick and it was through the ice, didn't even unpack the gear and wet a line.As there are so many springs in the lake I decided not to venture out and will wait for it to tighten up.Have a great Christmas everyone and be safe on the ice.I will update as things start to progress here. Didn't see any huts out yesterday, snowing pretty good right now so I can't see across the lake to the access point by the tracks where there normally are most of the huts.My neighbor a couple of doors away just walked out and it looks like he's over deep water but we go from 5ft to 70ft in about 10 steps .I will checking it myself sometime this weekend.
