Has anybody tried worms for bait when ice fishing?

Open water boat fishing worms are the hot ticket on nipissing and just wondering if anybody has tried them under the ice.

I have used on simcoe they seem die as soon as you put them in water ,but maybe its just me .They kind of shrink up I would say, hey give it a try see what happens?

Worms no good for hard water fishing on Nip,, Shiners and Leaches are the ticket,,,
