Hey all new to the site and thankful for all the tips and help. I'm a once a year for a week traveller to the lake (hoping to do more) but after reading over and over the new 2014 regs for nipissing I'm still looking at it saying 50 perch instead of normally 25. Is there something that I'm missing, or is this correct?

Yes it is a change over last year's 25 perch limit. big whoop they should still all lose their heads(political positions).
Now when will they bump walleye back to 4 and open up trout lake, IDK, but I can tell you that I'm organizing a class action lawsuit against the ministry for business losses that are needlessly caused by negligent actions by the mnr.

I don't see any changes in the regs for Nipissing this year either
Good for you. What the mnr let the natives get away with is unconstitutional.
unconstitutional? NFN has tighter regulations on their quotas than all the weekend meat hunters heading out every week. The limits on walleye were reduced because the fishery cannot be sustained with the amount of recreational pressure on the lake as well as the commercial pressure.
Don't point the finger at one group and not the other. (especially when that one group who you point the finger at has more right to fish those waters than anyone else)

This is why I never comment on these issues. If you don't know all the facts surrounding the issue, you are simply voicing your opinion based on things you've heard or assumptions made up in your own head. One things forsure there are natives fishing improperly as well as non-natives fishing improperly, just the world we live in . Idiots come in all shapes sizes and colors.

I totally concur Dickie, two set of rules and a completely uneven playing field ...the natives are supposed to net what they need to provide for themselves but are selling on the common market out of North Bay. As weekend warriors we are regulated to both numbers and slot sizes and I ask how do you regulate slot sizes while gill netting? The natives have no control over what they catch and i am totally sure they do not throw the slot size walleye back!

the only thing I shake my head about is your ill informed attitude. Study the constitution and maybe you will be a little more enlightened. Keep the language civil will you, please. thanks

They certainly do not have a greater right to the resource than white, black, red, male or female..... As the chief of Nipissing Second Nation and I surely disagree with that statement. I have no other native homeland. Fishermen and women of all backgrounds have an equal right to fish lake nipissing with respect. Take what you can eat and let the big females spawn. If everyone adhered to that personal motto of mine there'd be no problems on the lake. There is not peace on the lake right now. I advocate peace and one set of regulations via much dialogue with all the various groups. I don't take sides because that entrenches a bad situation.

I was simply saying it was unfair to point the finger at one group specifically. Everyone is quick to blame NFN for the state of the walleye fishery on the lake when it's a very complex issue and no specific group is to blame.
I know in my personal experience having grown up on that lake, I have encountered CO's twice that I can recall and last years visit from them is in that count. Not enough enforcement. Just sayin'
