I have seen some trucks on the bay the last couple days pulling huts out. I've been out on my snowmobile pulling my huts out. Have openings for January 1st and the first week of the season for those who love early ice season fishing.

We pulled out two shacks yesterday with a truck...ice was 15 inches when we checked. Ice is black and clear...that being said, I'm sure it's not consistently 15 inches everywhere. Stick on the trails that have already been made and you should be fine.

I am on south bay and have not seen anything other than snow mobiles out on it so far. That said i am not staring out the window all day so there could have been a vehicle or two out there. We had around 8" or 9" of snow on the ground which has blown around some so there could be drifts out there. I haven't been out more than a stroll just off the dock and the snow was deep in areas and blown clear in others.
Up until a couple days ago the snow was small light flakes be we had a couple warm days where it got pretty wet and heavy.
Bring lots of warm gear as it will be cold the next few days. Calling for lows in the -30's without the wind chill.

Well that figures. Just looked out and saw a couple pickups over closer to the south shore hauling huts out. I guess it is navigable out there at least in some spots.

Thanks guys. I'm very leery of driving the truck across callander bay this time of year. I think I'll bring the sled to be safe. I'll be there on the opener with the kids and the heaters ... it's going to ccccold!!
