Wow, it's hard to believe the ice is that thick this quick. I've been coming up to Nip for several years, usually during the first full week in January, and I can't remember when there was over 12" of ice this time of year. Usually it comes down to the wire if it's enough or can't get the bungaloes out yet or even a thunder storm. Looks like it's all systems go. Might as well leave the manual auger at home this year, it was always quick to pop a hole or two while wandering around but sounds like a little more of a workout this time. Anybody remember when ice conditions were this good or been this cold this early for so long?

Plenty of ice on the south shore, tractors, trucks and cars have been traveling the ice road, stick to the trails though. We have all the bungalows out and are ready for opening weekend. Looking forward to a great season!

Awesome to hear about ice thickness!!!! Just wondering if the ice being so thick so early will effect the fish at this time of year. .we are three weeks away from our second trip to nippissing and cannot wait, its all my dad and I talk about when we get together thanks all for updates, making the itch worse reading everything every day lol but I can't help it...
