I like my graph since I'm use to using it on the boat. When fishing in Quinte with FSHN FRK, I did get a first hand look at a flasher in use and now I understand how it works so it's not just a bunch of flashing lights but as I said, I'm use to the graph.

I know lots of guys who swear by flashers. personally ive never used one. Ive fished for years and my knowledge of the waters and the movement of the bait is something you can't gain by a flasher. What happen to the olde days when you used your jig stick to check the depth? I mean im sure that guys can't fish without them but if you need to rely on a flasher to catch fish your not a fisherman. A fisherman uses maps and runs and guns until he finds the structure and bait for the fish his targeting simple... You find a spot holding fish theres almost always a reason why? i fish atleast 50+ days on the ice and only twice last year i was skunked! I dont use a fishfinder, i dont use a flasher, just use a map and my knowledge of the waterbody. I almost always come home with a smile on my face, numerous days i landed 10,15, trout or 4-5 pike/walleye depending on what im targeting.
my advice: Find your own spots, stay away from the crowd and keep it OLDE SCHOOL!! You dont need to spend a lot of money on fancy gear to catch fish, Period.

I know everybody is entitled to their own opinion however sometime you just have to say what a load of BS. Calling someone not a fisherman because they use a flasher...come on. How much tech do you use to ice fish? Snow machine? auger? GPS? Cold weather clothing? shelter/windbreak? As with any piece of tech it doesn't automatically make you better its how you learn too use it and add to your fishing experience.

You are saying probably half the people here are not fisherman. Flashers are an extremely effective tool! If u choose not to use one thats your choice. I work fulltime and have kids. So i want to make the most ofmy time on the water!!!!!! My flasher helps me do just that.
Am i not a fisherman if i have a fishfinder on my boat??????????

As Clint Eastwood stated, opinions are like .... everyone has one. Everyone fishes in a different manner using a variety of techniques and tools , some of them being electronic. Why be concerned or worry about what someone else is doing? As long as you are fishing legally and enjoying yourself, who cares?

Got a Marcum for Cmas from my wife, and love it!! Used it 3 times, and forgot it once.... I totally understand why people say they'll never fish without it!!! I hope never to forget it again...

Hey, how come you don't have age groups of 70's and 80',s
Lot's of old timers around that can still do it and quite well i might add.
I used flashers back in late 60's and then had the new ice fishing models when they came out. like Dave Genz pack . FL8 an so on.
Got rid of them as soon as the ice x67c came out and never looked back.
I would still have a flasher if I smoked weed but I don't and Disco is also getting old
guys always talking about 'real time". the newer units now have real time .......graphs I mean and yes, u can watch a fish swim up from bottom and chase your lure up to wherever just as easily.
Color codes indicate the 'closeness of fish' same as graphs....so those comparisons do not hold water any longer.
In the end, you get and use what you want, not what others have .
They all work........ ....now what's the all time best fishing lure..ahh never mind......
