We've always gone to Nipissing for our Walleye ice fishing, but our usual operator isn't running this season... I'm thinking it may be time to switch it up with the 2 fish limit as well. Just wondering if anyone has had a good experience at any other operators/ lakes in the same area or further South? I've done okay at Nosbonsing in the past, not my first preference. What else is out there?

I have done Nos once and nip 3 times with a group of 14. The 5 hr drive north with machines in tow and the price places are charging is just not worth the 2 fish limit.
This year 18 of us are going 1 hr east to Quinte in search of a monster or two.

Right now we are staying in a hotel and fishing in the desoronto area. Have a line onan operator that we are in talks with to accommodate that many people.

Ive been fishing Nipi for over 17 years, making the drive up from the GTA four or five times a year and for the last couple of years, that's all I've heard "its not worth the drive for just two fish". What's the difference between taking two. four or even six fish, its never going to be "worth" the drive. To me its more about being there, enjoying the lake and hey a bonus, I'll maybe catch a keeper...(or two), get over it

I am over it! That's why I and the group have given up on it lmao. I live on Rice lake and catch more fish then I know what to do with all season. We go out as a group to have a good time and catch and eat fish for a weekend. A lot of the guys fish once a year on this trip and with the super low numbers they are getting discouraged. Last year we did ok going out on our own away from the huts after 90% of the group went home, but they were tiny fish. If we kept and cleaned them I would have felt horrible. I got one last season 27" long with my line and flasher in the water for 72 hrs.
It's my opinion that our group will do better on Quinte and have a chance at a record fish and it's a bonus that it's cheaper and way closer to home for all of us.
