12 of us are headed to loon lodge feb 7 to 9. I seem to recall another board member is going the week before but it is too bad and surprising there have not been any reports so far this year at least that I'm aware of. Would be terrific to hear any fish stories from folks that have been up this year!

Friend of mine who lives on the lake got 10 whities the other morning. Will be up this weekend so I hope the fishing stays hot. We'll do whitefish during the day and go for pickerel late aft around dusk.

12 of us stayed at loon lodge Friday to Sunday. John and Jenny's hospitality was terrific. We did well on the whities Friday morning. Only two of us fished on Friday morning with 3 whitefish and one laker landed on tip ups (2 way), a number of tip up lifts missed and one lost on a jigging rap that chased the rap up off bottom (laker?). Friday afternoon was very quiet with only a pickerel from johns pickerel huts landed. Saturday was dead slow. Maybe too nice - it was incredibly beautiful, sunny with no wind. John chummed the whitie huts Saturday aft and Sunday morning from 8 to 10 the tip ups would not stop going off in one hut 3 of us were using (most of group did not fish Sunday). We landed 7 and missed a bunch more. One fish tangled all the tip ups which we managed to pull up through the hole the fish was hooked in. Believe it or not, the fish came off but somehow popped up without a hook in its mouth in one of the other holes and we grabbed it. No joke. Must have come off spreader near surface and happened to be right under the other hole. One key was very tiny minnows and hooking them gently up through vent and barely along skin so that they stayed alive. Best two hours of whitefish fishing I've seen. Beautiful setting up in temagami wilderness and loon lodge is a great place to stay and fish.

Hi all I'm new here . I have been fishing lake temagami for over 20 years now spring, summer and winter. I have to admit the hard water season is becoming my favourite. I will be going up this year feb 28th for a week and Im really looking forward to hooking into some nice walleye first then some lakers. I have read some great posts here about lake temagami but not much on the surrounding lakes, I can tell you the surrounding lakes offer some awesome fish. One of the reasons winter is becoming one of my favourites is its much easier to get into these lakes as opposed to walking in with a motor and gear in the warm months. There are great walleye lakes, speckles and some offer lake trout walleye and whitefish in the same hole. I'm glad I found this forum and I'm looking forward to adding some posts, nice to see others enjoying temagami. Talk soon nice to meet you all
