Just made one myself with whatever I have. Height is about one a half feet (or 19 inches exact). Hopefully it's good as a tip-up for lakers and/or whitefish?:-)

I can't believe all the cheerleading crap I'm reading...........Looks good, pretty good, will work, blah, blah, blah. C'mon.........
I hate to be the only realistic(negative) guy here, but that design is far less than adequate.(to be polite)
If a trout (or other large fish) smashes your drop shot, or your high hook, that tip-up stick will be down the hole before you can grab it.
You need to seriously rethink your design xiaolu.
Also, you need to have a proper tip-up stick with a locking tip with shoulders. Otherwise you will have no chance to balance it correctly for whitefish spreaders.
The system you designed may look nice, but it need a complete overhaul.
Sorry.........but you need proper guidance, not cheerleading.
I can post a picture of my set-up if you wish. It's simple(not pretty) but works perfectly as intended. I didn't want to highjack your thread.

Thanks for the tips:-)
Think the most important part that I am missing, is perhaps a lock at where the stick is resting on. I have to come up with something for it.
On a note, when I was, like two weeks ago off BP fishing in a rental hut, and with a tip-up I used which was provided by the hut rental operator (see below pic), I didn't see any locking "mechanism", either with the tip-up (in a sense perhaps if a fish all of sudden drags the line, the stick with the line could fall, and thus get down deep into the hole?:-)

That will work. You just slide the elastic to adjust sensitivity. When you tip it back you want it to fall nice and slow back to the bottom. That is so when a whitie picks it up he doesnt feel any weight of the spreader. I have had trout hit a high hook and the whole thing go flying into the hole but they are wood and float so as long as your quick enough you will never lose it .

aren't we in a pissy mood.
I'm not in a pissy mood. I'm just tired of reading crap that encourages this man to do the wrong things. He wants to catch a trout/WF. Let's be honest with him, and give him the proper guidance, not pats on the back......
As for the operators stand.....that is a correct stand. The strapping will hold the stick on a strike, and you can lock the stick into the small hole under the pivot if you have to go outside to relieve yourself. As for richyb....he is correct. Wood floats. I had to chase my stick once under the ice with a net, as a 14lb trout ripped it out of my hands. (I was in a perm hut with a big hole) Got the trout though!!!!
Design the stand the same, and get some proper tip up sticks. They make all the difference.......
Your next lesson will be how to properly set it up. :-)

Couple of points.
For me , it's the wrong type of stick to begin with........I like the ones that are lighter and have a notched end at the tip so you can "fix" the line in for same depths repeatly.
Also the stand is OK, but the better one is the operators. as you need a specific height on the balance mechanism ir order for tip-up to allow to go full forward and lock in place without going into hole.
this is acheived by cutting the metal higher and testing it plus making sure the balnce point is also cut shallow enough to ensure it does not fall out with a forward hit from a laker.
Wow, harder to explain than show
Last, take that line off and replace rubber band with a women's "hair band' lasts 10 times longer.
Hope you get what I'm trying to say here.
Once you got all that fixed properly......last pice of advice Jmaes.
Go to a differnt location already.seriously 2 plus years at that area nd ZIP...tiem for a move
