Hello all,
Quick question.... Heading to simcoe tomorrow. Was going to launch at Tiffin street boat launch. We are heading up early and the Bait Bucket doesnt open until 8am. My question is - Is there another place to get bait earlier than 8am near there?

The other option is to head to the Atherley Narrows and hit up Jacobs on the highway.
Thanks.

depends where you are from. In Vaughan I grab them fro TCO the day before I go so it is there. Pack some ice around the minnow bag for over night and first thing when you get out you change the water and you should be good to go.

Go to your local supermarket and get the cheapest shrimp pack you can find. Cut them in half for perch fishing.

I have always wonder... how well do they stay on the hooks?

Is this a serious reply? Using shrimp?

There was tons of minnows in the barrie marina last week. Lots of people dip netting them.

Just as serious as Heinz makes Ketchup and 'merican beer sucks.
I use either a #4 or #6 hook.

Very serious reply, I have always used shrimp fishing the Barrie area from shore and have always done very well with the jumbos.

Are you talking about cooked or raw shrimps?
Have you tried shrimps while ice fishing and if so, how did they work?
I've got some plastics that look like shrimps but I think it's the scent that's gonna attract them!

What I have seen........

Shrimp is a widely used bait, especially to get the kids to the dinner table.

Shrimp for perch, stocked trout, catfish. Soak shrimp in garlic, peanut butter, pepper and other stinky items to catch cats. Nasty smell, but have seen a lot of them caught with these home made concoctions. For large uncooked shrimp, a tiny rubber band will help to keep it on your hook.

Tip cooked shrimp on small hooks or mini jigs. A tiny piece of worm and a pc of shrimp on a hook work well also. Some people use raw shrimp.

Fish can be very picky. Water temps, weather, water skiers, action of your lures..... are there fish in that location... We all need to think outside of what is the norm. Be flexible. Try 2-4 lb line. It will teach you how to rely on your proper drag and it's a lot of fun.

There are shrimp flavored sprays / dips.

The photo below says it all.
