Heading to the in-laws on Balsam this weekend, as well as March Break.

Lived there for years but wasn't allowed to Ice fish there. Now that we have moved away you can. Has anybody tried it yet? where abouts? What is being caught, Was gunna try the usual summer haunts but didn't know if there was something up? The mouth of the Channel on the north west side of the lake, as well as the mouth of the Rosedale channel, might be good. I was wondering about the narrows or Indian point, of maybe even down the bay closer to Coby... Any suggestions?

Also anybody know where to get minnows up there? Does the guy at the Shallamar have them? or do I have to go to Norland?

Thanx Boys... I'll keep ya posted

Never read a lot of reports on here about Balsam Lake but the few I have seen on here seemed to always say that ice fishing is not the best on this lake. With that being said maybe you could be the first to post a positive report on here about Balsam Lake, good luck and let us know how you make out.

Hey Thanx

Never heard anything good yet either..

So I will make it a mission to document my experience and see what we can find. I know the lake very well for summer fishing.. time to scout it for the hard water.. thanx FatRap

if you know some good weedbeds from your summer fishing try thos, you might get into some panfish and maybe even a pike!

don't know the lake but I would very careful around channels and current areas especially if you don't see any sign of anybody fishing there.
