I have to move my daugter back from university in Northbay around that time.
I hope its gone.
I am using the excuse of towing my boat up there to bring stuff back in.
I am not sure she believes me.
Keep us posted chaser.

It will be open for the opener.
I figure the small bays and areas where there is current it will be open by the end of the month.
Ice free around the 8th of May.

Lots of Ice covered with lots of snow. Until we get a decent amount of sun, wind and rain, I think it will be early to mid May before it's off in our end (North West Bay)

well I think if we get a lot of rain and + temp with the amount of snow on the ice will be very heavy and will break up the ice will help it to thaw faster is what I hope will happen

Hi all. New here. We're making our first ever trip to Callander in May. What is the ice situation as of today? Any tips for us that you'd like to share?

Thanks

I was up to open my cottage on South Bay this past weekend and it still has 12 to 18" of ice on it. Probably closer to the 18" but it is melting around the edges. I was surprised how much snow had melted in 2 weeks. I was using snow shoes two weeks earlier and this past week there was little left. A picture looking out towards Beacon Island. South Bay and Callander usually open up around the same time with the lake being up to a couple weeks later.
