I'm back! Missed ya all!
Wow what a winter.....never did get out ice fishing....no worries..I plow snow in the winter and yes it's been awesome for that and it took up most of my time. Might even be able to get that new trolling motor I was eyeing up at BP.
As I did last year, I will soon post reports and throw up some pictures for peeps that are interested in hearing and seeing what is going on with the ice and the state of it's retreat (if it ever melts...lol).
If anyone has any specific requests for areas or photos let me know. I live on the north east side of Lake Nipissing but venture around her often to take in the awesomeness of her size and beauty.
Right now if I posted a picture it would look like a frozen picture of white...lol...so no point. I hear from locals that the ice is still pretty thick. I also hear that flooding in our city will likely happen. Not sure if this will help or hinder the walleye as they may have additional areas to spawn that they did not last year? Regardless, this year will have a different water elevation unless they monkey around at the dams in the French river.
I am happy to be back here on the board. Despite some serious issues on this lake, I think I will make the best of it, and roll with the punches ....perhaps a new way to enjoy sheep head is in order...lol.

This picture pretty much sums up this weekend.....taken just out front of the King's Landing Dock in North Bay. I would go out on a limb and say there is a few feet of ice there now. May opener for walleye.....at this point it's not looking very good....unless you have a hovercraft.

I think my next picture/report will be around the various rivers/creeks that feed into Lake Nipissing. North Bay city along with other authorities have been removing the ice from these creeks for years in anticipation of flooding and snow melt. I guess it's a good place to start regarding ice out and spring lake levels. I will try my best to capture ice thicknesses in creeks and river/creek conditions that lead into Lake Nipissing.
Just a quick weather report for those that don't live in North Bay.....predicting another snowfall of 5 cm this week (give or take a few cms...lol). Last year at this time I was pulling out my boat from winter storage and checking on things, getting batteries charged and installed, etc. This year I am wondering how I will get it out of my backyard due to the few feet of snow still there?

Not much to report other than some snow, then sun, then rain, then.......ya mixed bag this year. I highly doubt ice out will be prior to walleye season, or if it is, there will be a lot of debris floating around. I snapped some photos of some major creeks and waterways leading into Lake Nipissing for you all. Some flooding in the south end of North Bay. Creeks seem full.
