So I had no luck on pulling out any crappie from scugog this winter. I have heard lots about how good the spring crappie fishing is on scugog. Is there anyone that lives on the lake and could let me know when the ice is out from shore? Any tips on a location I should focus on?

As far as I know there is still a good 1 foot of ice still on the lake so about a week of plus 7 degree weather and nights that are 3 degrees than it will start to melt in the shallows.

Cant believe the ice is lasting so long. This transition between ice fishing and open water fishing is killing me !! Does anyone know of some spots i could do some early season open water fishing ?

I have gone to a few spots along the Scugog River, there is still some ice along the shore but the middle of the river is open. The current is moving really quick.

Where the boat ramp is on water st., the bay there is open but no sign of fish because water is a little to cold so another week or two and the crappie should start biting. And tried it yesterday, way to windy to cast the fly rod.
